James joined Howard & Co.in 2022 and is a key member of the Childcare team. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2013, having previously worked at a South Yorkshire firm where he gained early experience in Matrimonial and Private Children Law as a paralegal before completing his training contract. He began specialising in Childcare Law in 2015 and has built a strong reputation for his expertise in representing children, parents, and extended family members in complex care proceedings.
James holds a First Class Honours LLB and achieved a Commendation on the Legal Practice Course. He has been a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 2018, reflecting his specialist standing in public law children work. This year marks 16 years in the legal profession and 10 years specialising in Childcare Law. In August 2025, James was appointed as a Deputy District Judge, recognising his experience and professionalism within the family justice system.
Outside work, James enjoys travelling - from the warm beaches of Tenerife to the bright lights of Las Vegas! James is an avid film and television enthusiast. He also values time spent with friends and family, often enjoying evenings out when his schedule allows.
